We got the chance to see a wonderful film tonight. If you’ve ever been a fan of photography or grew up reading Life or National Geographic magazines (and gawking at the photos like I did), then I highly recommend this movie. The imagery is beautiful and the message is wonderful and uplifting. We also found it quite hilarious.
It made me miss film and the old school days of working so hard to develop a single image. My first camera was a Canon AE-1 and I spent so much of my time and money on chemicals, film and paper. I love digital, but sometimes it’s just too easy. There was a magic to working in a dark room and this film made me really miss it.
Go see The Secret Life of Walter Mitty! It’s beautiful!
I recently had the privilege of doing a photo session with an old photographer friend of mine. Michelle and I both learned photography way back at NKU in a dark room with film and paper and chemicals and everything! I had photographed Michelle and her first baby Cooper in 2010. What an honor it was to return for a portrait session with her second baby and see my original 2010 photos on their shelves! Displaying a professional’s photos in your home is the highest honor you can bestow upon a photographer and I’m always grateful for that.
I also love shooting photographers because they always understand why you take a lot of shots and they also know how to be really great subjects. I took some 800 photos (!!), but they were well worth it. Here are some of my favorites of Michelle and her new son Jaxon. And also Cooper, who is now three! (Where does the time go?)
Thanks Michelle! It was so wonderful to see you and catch up! And both of those boys are adorable!
